The Magic of Libraries: A Gateway to Knowledge and Imagination Contributing Opinion Piece in Appreciation of Libraries Libraries are not just buildings filled with books. They are wonderous spaces. Libraries are treasure troves of knowledge, gateways to the imagination, and nurturing spaces for our minds to grow. Let's explore why libraries are important and why we should cherish and protect them. 1. A World of Knowledge at Your Fingertips: Imagine having access to countless books, magazines, and online resources, all waiting for you to explore! Libraries are like magical portals that transport us to different times, places, and worlds through the stories they contain. Whether you're interested in space, history, animals, or anything else, a library is the place to satisfy your curiosity. 2. Boosting Creativity and Imagination: Libraries are the birthplace of imagination. They provide the materials and space for your creativity to flourish. Whether it's reading a fantasy book that takes you on epic adventures or writing your very own stories, libraries encourage you to dream big and think outside the box. 3. Quiet Spaces for Learning: Libraries offer a peaceful environment where you can concentrate on your studies and homework. This quiet atmosphere helps you focus and learn, making libraries an ideal place for both research and study groups. Having a designated space to learn can greatly improve your understanding of subjects and help you perform better in school. 4. Community Gathering Place: Libraries are not just for reading; they're also great places to meet friends and share experiences. Book clubs, storytelling sessions, and workshops are often held in libraries, creating a sense of community and bringing people together. You can make new friends with similar interests and broaden your social circle. 5. Lifelong Learning: Learning doesn't stop when you leave school; it's a lifelong journey. Libraries offer resources for people of all ages to continue learning and growing. From adults looking to expand their skills to children discovering new hobbies, libraries satisfy everyone's thirst for knowledge. Why Libraries Matter: Libraries have a unique role in nurturing young minds. They foster a love for reading, encourage critical thinking, and provide a safe haven for the imagination to flourish. As we adapt to changing times, it is crucial we nurture young minds. Protecting libraries ensures students benefit from the magical experiences these spaces offer. Let's work together to ensure school libraries remain places of learning, inspiration, and creativity. If you are new to Field Elementary, let us tell you about the wonderfully creative and encouraging Librarian we all love and adore, Mrs. Esquivel! Thank you, Mrs. Esquivel, for all you do for our students! So, next time you step into our Field library, take a moment to appreciate the wonders it holds and the potential it has to transform our students! Happy reading! |

The PTO could not do all of the amazing things it does without the dedicated group of volunteers who are so generous with their time and efforts. Involvement with the PTO is a wonderful way to get to know the school, staff, students, and other parents. There are many different ways to get involved. We encourage you to learn more about the events and activities that the PTO sponsors and volunteer where you can. Please note that all volunteers who will be working with students on campus or on field trips need to be registered through the school district’s Volunteers in Public Schools program, or VIPS. VIPS requires all volunteers to register annually. For more information, click here. |

| Field of Dreamers Garden Club We are excited to announce we are kicking off our Field of Dreamers Garden Club for our third season! This amazing program, is run by parent volunteers who donate 25 minutes of their time every Thursday. In this small amount of time students connect with the Earth, plant a thing or two, learn where their food comes from, sample fresh herbs or lettuce depending on what's growing, get a little dirty and explore the wonders of nature. So much goes on in those 7 beds at the front - you would be amazed! We also want to bring the students to the Butterfly Garden that was built and funded by grants and parent volunteers last year. The Butterfly Garden is located outside the PE room. If you have 25 minutes to spare, please let us know. You may reach Ebony Porter at campfirequilts@gmail.com .
