- Parent Q&A
- Prior to the meeting, questions relating to school opening, face-to-face learning, etc were sent in via GoogleSheets. Time was also allotted for meeting participants to ask questions and voice concerns.
- Art Ancillary Update: HITS Theatre pre-recorded videos will be posted onto ClassDojo once available (asynchronous arts ancillary). Additionally, we are working on a grant project that will cover 32 visual art/creative movement lessons (16 art/16 movement) in order to give all grades an arts-related ancillary. This hasn’t yet been finalized as we haven’t paid for it; the earliest date for these classes to begin is October 26. Mrs. Davis retired last year and the school was unable to find a music teacher given the events of the spring semester. Currently all arts-related ancillaries are covered by the PTO and as such are subject to financial and school administration-related considerations.
- Virtual vs in-person instruction: PTO board members shared what they learned at the earlier SDMC meeting – as follows
- The school will make every effort to keep student with their original teacher(s) however this will be determined by the number of students opting for virtual vs in person instruction (can’t make any decisions/announcements until they have the numbers).
- The emphasis is on keeping everyone- students, teachers, staff- safe and healthy.
- Face-to-face learning can be accomodated to 50-60% (current enrollment is around 440 students). If more than that percentage opt to return in person, the administration would consider an alternative days schedule however there is no plan for that at this time.
- Miscenallaneous
- PTO will consider holding virtual fundraisers – requires more discussion
- Send any campus improvement plans/ideas to Matt (VP of Campus Improvement)
- Small gifts/food to welcome teachers back to the school campus (tacos?)
- Encourage all Field community members to sign up for the PTO newsletter in order to stay up to date on current information and happenings
- Questions regarding school/teaching/learning/anything Field-related can be sent to Ms. Ortiz via the “Questions or Comments?” link on the Field Elementary homepage (on the right, under the Quick Links heading)
